Today we are announcing the formal release of our mathematical analysis and description of Shot Aptitude, a new pool game sabermetric. You’ll find the formal paper at the link below: http://poolst.at/pdf1
A Word on Shot Aptitude
There has been minor controversy surrounding this stat. Mainly gauging a player’s ability with regards to time. It is true that while time is a major factor in these equations, it’s not the only factor at hand. More goes into these equations than simply time. Time is a weight, like any other measure. Also, since […]
Shot Aptitude: A New Pool Game Sabermetric
http://poolst.at/sa We are proud to announce the release of a new pool metric (sabermetric): Shot Aptitude. It measures a player’s ability in decisive action and execution in shooting the ball. It takes in the factors of, time to shoot, shot difficulty, miss or made or foul or defense. The main contributor to this metric is […]

http://poolst.at/pm We are announcing the calculation of a new pool metric: Plus / Minus (+/-). A similar metric exists in the game of hockey where a player gets a +1 whenever their team scores while that player is on the ice; and receives a -1 whenever the opponent team scores while that player is on […]

http://poolst.at/csp We are happy to announce, after many hours of mathematical analysis, our formula for a new stat, considered a sabermetric, in the cue sports world: Clutch Shooting Percentage (CSP). This stat measures the effectiveness for a player under adversity, i.e., their ability to perform in a game/match when it matters most. A similar metric […]
Update: DSR (Defensive Success Rate)
http://poolst.at/dsr We have made a small adjustment to the calculation of DSR (Defensive Success Rate). In the following press release, you’ll see that we have added a new variable to account for the missed shots by an opponent after a player plays safe. The missed shots is weighted as to not give it the full […]

http://poolst.at/d We’ve devised a new sabermetric for pool. DSR measures a player’s ability to play safes effectively. To gain an understanding of the metric, we’ve published the formula. In easier terms, a DSR > 50 is highly effective. A DSR > 100 is extremely effectively, and illustrates that you force more turnovers, via fouls, than […]
Shooting Percentage For All Active Players
Here is a quick info graphic that illustrates the power of our server-side statistical suite, Metabase, available for everyone at very low pricing per year. The following link is interactive, so check it out. http://poolst.at/c The above link, takes you to the infographic below. In short, this is the data of Made Shots, Missed Shots, […]
Average Consecutive Made Shots Per Match For All Players Recorded
Here is a nice scatter plot illustrating the average consecutive made shots for an entire match fro all players. Basically it compares the players matches, that we’ve recorded, and how often they stay on the table, i.e., consecutive made shots without missing. Below is the image and interactive graph of the stats.
Dashboard Visualization of Justin Bergman’s Shooting % During Match 1 of the International 9-ball Open
Justin played extremely well in the following matches. In the first match he missed some crucial, medium level difficulty shots, but his ability to force errors on his opponent made him shine. The following is a graph of the two players Shooting Percentage throughout that first match. If you watched the match you know Justin […]
